Killing What’s Killing You

Last fall our church experienced a prayer gathering. During that time of prayer, reflection and worship we asked people to write down on cards something they wanted our elders to pray about for them. As we looked at these cards we noticed a lot of overlapping themes. Anger, pride, fear, anxiety, envy were just some of the struggles we all face. Why is that? Because we’re locked in an epic spiritual struggle. Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). The devil wants to kill us and the weapons he uses are the struggles I just listed. As we begin a new year, let’s take aim at the things that suck the life out of us. The things that rob us of the abundant life Jesus wants for us. Let’s kill what’s killing you.
