Christmas Lights
It’s hard to imagine a Christmas without LED bulbs. Whether circling a fresh-cut fir tree, or a “tree” assembled from a box, twinkle lights help make Christmas magical. But it wasn’t Thomas Edison who invented Christmas lights – even though he was the one who helped make them commercially available. Seven centuries before the first Christmas, Isaiah prophesied about Jesus: “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.” Jesus is God’s light come into the world. He is the reason we celebrate Christ’s birth during December, the darkest month of our year. Emmanuel, God incarnate, the Light of the World reveals who God is, provides hope, and shows us how to reflect his light in a world too often lived among the shadows.
