This five-week series for the new year will dive into what it looks like to move forward in God’s promise! goes here

JR HIGH SCHOOL MINISTRY CURRICULUM

JH Spring 2025

This Spring in our junior high ministry, we are going to be looking at some of the basic struggles of our faith by investigating topics such as insecurities, doubt, and what it means to have faith.

  • We all struggle to feel like we have enough when the reality is that less is often more! Through the story of Gideon, this four-week series examines how God is more than enough in every area of our lives!

  • Dating and relationships can be complicated. Dating culture is more convoluted and risqué than it has ever been – it’s time that the church had something to say. In the month of February, all eyes are on love and relationships. This is a strategic time to look to Scripture, through the story of Samson, and learn some key lessons about our relationships and where things can get a little complicated if we aren’t careful

  • One of the hardest battles young people face is that of insecurity. While they discover who they are, the enemy would love to convince them of who they aren’t! In this four-week series, we will look to Scripture to find security in our relationship with Christ!

  • The word “faith” is used five times in the book of Mark. Each time, a unique story teaches us what it means to have faith in Jesus from a different perspective. This month, we walk through each instance of faith found in Mark’s gospel, and learn what it means to believe even when it is difficult.

PREVIOUS SEMESTER SERIES

HS Fall 2024

Our Fall semester is focused on the ideas of refinement and sanctification. As Christians go through trials and tribulations, God uses these experiences to grow and mold us into the people he needs us to be for his Kingdom.

  • In Acts 19, word of Paul’s missionary work spread to those practicing sorcery and witchcraft. Their response to the work of Jesus was to burn all of their sorcery books in a public bonfire. The testimony and work of Jesus leads us to repentance! In this five-week series on sanctification, we examine the areas of life that need to be thrown into the fire as we pursue holiness and relationship with Jesus.

  • Mental health is one of the most discussed topics our students engage with. It’s critical we teach a biblical perspective on mental health and lead students to the real, lasting solution for mental health. In this four-week series, we cover the topics of loneliness, anxiety, depression, and suicide. It’s okay to not be okay — we have a God who cares and will love and heal us when we seek Him!

  • Jesus was born as a great light to those who walk in darkness. Our culture is dark, blind, and in need of the light of Jesus. This three-week Christmas series centers around the prophetic word of the coming Messiah in Isaiah 9:2-7. Through this series, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, our source of peace both now and for all eternity.

HS Spring 2024

Spring is the season to grow! The beginning of the year is the perfect time for students to deeper in their walks with God. This season focuses specifically on spiritual growth and going deeper with God.

  • Often, followers of Jesus have plans for family, finances, and their future, yet many neglect to form a spiritual plan to grow closer to Jesus. We must be intentional in order to hear from God, grow in faith, and form good habits that lead to a meaningful life. In this 3-week partnership series with pastor Noah Herrin, we draw from his book “Holy Habits” and dive into creating habits that will lead to a meaningful life with Jesus

  • The month of February begins our season of growth in the Spring. It also is a perfect time to discuss the growth of our relationships with Valentine’s Day occurring. In this four-week series, students will learn to grow their relationships with healthy Biblical boundaries with the world, their friends, relationships, and family!

  • In the words of Harry Styles: “You know it’s not the same as it was.” We celebrate the Easter season with this four-week series on Jesus. Through His death on the cross, what used to be is no longer. From death to life, slavery to freedom, spiritual blindness to revelation, sinners to saints — nothing is the same with Jesus!

  • The month of January is centered around remembering the benefits of God and how it affects our vision coming into a new year. This five-week series will progress through Psalm 103:1-5 and establish the new year around God’s goodness and faithfulness to us through forgiveness, healing, redemption, love, and satisfaction.

HS FALL 2023

Fall is the season to gather! With the new school year starting, fall brings the opportunity for students to go deeper in community with the people in their world.

  • A series on Identity.
While students gather together in this Fall season, there is no better time to reinforce the truth of our identity in Christ. This four-week series walks through the story of Esther and illustrates the lifestyle of someone who walks confidently in their identity as a child of God.

  • A series on Leadership.
Our October series focuses on an important topic: leadership. Humble leadership that we see from Jesus came from “the secret place” with His Father. Jesus’ life and teachings on how we live in secret will dictate much of how we lead in public.

  • A series on Community.
We all have gifts given to us by God to bless His church! In this five-week series (with no teaching over Thanksgiving), we begin our winter season of giving with a look at the church. Students will be equipped to find their gift and serve the body of Christ!

  • A series on Christmas.
The Christmas season centers around the birth of Jesus Christ. We celebrate Him as Emmanuel, God with us. In this three-week Christmas series, we focus on the meaning of the name Emmanuel; how God was, is, and always will be with us.

HS SUMMER 2023

Summer is the season to go! This season gives students the opportunity to learn what it means to take the Gospel to their world.

  • So many students have said the phrase “I give up” at some point in their lives. It’s a statement that means: I’m done! Spiritually, this phrase isn’t negative at all. In fact, it’s the key to a real-life with Jesus. This four-week series on surrender will highlight the difference between surrendering our heart and our will to God, how to surrender in the fight against temptation, and the future and calling God has for our lives.

  • If you’ve been a Christian any amount of time, you know that Kingdom Logic isn’t always natural. The way up is down, less is actually more, when you’re weak you’re strong, and if you really wanna live you gotta die. In this series, we’re teaching our students kingdom principles to help them grow to maturity in their walk with Christ.

  • Jesus used parables to illustrate deep, Kingdom truths. This four-week series is the first volume in our Parable Collection, which takes a closer look at the parables of Jesus and helps apply them to our lives today. Each week in this series dives into a different parable Jesus told about the Kingdom of God and highlights Kingdom truths for our lives today.

JH Fall 2024

  • This month, we will study the book of Jonah to encounter one of the strangest stories of how God used the most unlikely candidate to accomplish His will. Jonah is a rebellious and hard-hearted prophet that we can learn a lot from in what it means to truly obey God in our lives.

  • Every believer who follows Jesus will walk through seasons of refining. In the heat of the refiner’s fire, we are made to be pure as gold. This four-week series walks through the four steps of the refining process: heating, identifying, healing, and purifying.

  • The battlefield of the mind is one of the hardest fights we will face as believers. We can take our thoughts captive, or be held captive by them. What does Scripture tell us about adopting the mind of Christ? This special four-week series, partnered with Manny Arango and his book “Brain Washed,” discusses how we adopt the mind of Christ.

JH Spring 2024

  • This January series is built intentionally for the conversations that happen around the new year. People commit to resolutions, wanting to make changes and forget some pain from the previous year. This four-week series will establish “new rules for a new season” as we focus on the Israelites' journey out of the wilderness and into the Promised Land, and ultimately, Jesus’ new covenant with us as believers.

  • We have all experienced the pain of rejection. It often causes us to respond with insecurity and fear. What’s worse is that many students don’t know how to identify or overcome the effects of rejection. In this series, we see that we can overcome rejection, insecurity, and fear when we learn how to find our security in a relationship with Jesus Christ

  • Prayer is a foundational practice of our faith and is essential to building an intimate relationship with God, but it’s often difficult to know how and where to start. This four-week series unpacks exactly what it looks like to live a life filled with prayer today by highlighting Jesus’s own journey with prayer, dependence on God, and the importance of hearing His voice in our day-to-day lives.

  • In a world of cultural compromise, Christians are called to holiness. A fundamental understanding of the holiness of God is essential to the life of a believer. We are called to live a life set apart — holy and pleasing to God. In this four-week series, we’ll unpack what Scripture teaches us about holiness in service to a holy God.

JH FALL 2023

  • In a culture and society that exemplifies and celebrates showing your best and hiding the rest, Your Mess Matters aims to help students understand that even though their life may feel like a mess, God does His best work there. God doesn’t work over, around, or under the mess, He works in it.

  • Being left on read is the modern way of saying “you’re not worth my time.” It’s been the centerpiece of hurt feelings and ended friendships. In this series, we’re going to take a look at different ways keep our connection with God. Some intentional, some unintentional — each worth a conversation

  • Scripture calls us into community with each other. It’s necessary for our spiritual health! In this Thanksgiving series, we’re going to look at the importance of our spiritual community as we are centered around Jesus.

  • Let’s be honest. We all look forward to one thing all year: Christmas music! What’s on your Christmas playlist? Some Christmas carol classics, some covers from your favorite artist, or some fresh Christmas tunes? In this three week series, we’ll look at three popular Christmas songs and draw the deeper meaning of Christmas from each.
