Immerse: Messiah - God’s Solution to Racism

I have more in common with Christians who don’t share my racial identity than I do with non-Christians who do.

Prayer: Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we pray, that we might be grounded and settled in your truth by the coming of your Holy Spirit into our hearts. What we do not know, reveal to us; what is lacking within us, make complete; that which we do know, confirm in us; and keep us blameless in your service through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

  • What stood out to you this week?

  • Was there anything confusing or troubling?

  • Did anything make you think differently about God?

  • How might this change the way we live?

Memorize: Acts 17:26: From one man He created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.

Leaders: For memorizing the verse, discuss with your group the idea of repeating the verse together and/or each taking turns repeating it. Feel free to work on memorizing at the beginning and end of your time together.

Read: Acts 1:8, 6:1, 8:14, 25, 9:43, 10:34-36, 17:26.

  • Why is racism an issue for the Church?

  • What do you feel like is the base cause of racism? How can that be combatted?

  • How does aligning under a larger cause help fight racism?

  • What are you going to do this week to combat racism, whether that be in your life or the lives of others?
