PRAYING FOR THE PERSECUTED
It is easy to get lost in our lives here in Lansing--to become consumed with what is only a few feet and miles away from ourselves. The church is broader than a few miles. Around the world, we have brothers and sisters who share our faith.
In America, our decisions range from, "Are we going to get coffee?" to "Will we be late?" Many of our brothers and sisters have the decision, "Do I worship today and put my life at risk?"
With our freedom, we need to pray. We need to pray as much as we can for our brothers and sisters. Below is a list items to pray for. We encourage you to possibly adopt a country or geographical region to continually pray for. Great information in selecting a country or location can be found here.
WE encourage you to bookmark this page and return to it every day to pray for our brothers and sisters.
Pray the following items for the persecuted the major areas of Africa, Asia, Central America, and the Middle East.
The Persecuted:
- Pray that those being persecuted continue to stay faithful to God.
- Pray that those being persecuted would show love towards their enemies.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit would empower them to stay faithful.
- Pray that they have hope amidst the persecution.
The Persecutors:
- Pray that they would come to know who God is.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit would engage with them and help them come to know the "good news".
- Pray that they would begin to have compassion on those they are persecuting.
- Pray that their need for power would diminish. Pray that they would begin to believe.
Us:
- Pray that we keep perspective--that our freedom is not something to gloss over.
- Pray that we would be faithful in praying for those who are persecuted every day.
- Pray that our hearts and faith would be strengthened as we pray.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit would challenge us to live out our faith in every way possible.
