BECOMING--Developing the character of Christ is the most important undertaking any Christian can ever embark on. The typical Christian approach to this endeavor is to try to “be.” Be more responsible. Be more compassionate. Be more humble. This approach, however, leads to failure. Because, no matter how hard we try, focusing on the outcome instead of the process is an exercise in futility. The key is not to “be” but rather to “become” – to become like Jesus. But how does that happen? God creates in us the character of His son as we engage in spiritual disciplines. Focusing on these helps us become like Jesus. This series will examine characters from Scripture that engaged in those disciplines and the character traits that result from committing to them.
