Adventus

Christmas: For more than 1500 years, Christians throughout the world have paused every December to celebrate and remember the arrival of Jesus in a stable in Bethlehem. We call this season “Advent,” as it looks forward with great anticipation to an arrival. For God’s people today, our season of Advent extends beyond Christmas, as we continue to celebrate and anticipate the next arrival of Jesus – this time as victorious Lord coming to usher us into eternity. While the season of Advent may be contained to December each year, Christians live their lives in the reality of continual Advent. And so, this Christmas, we join with the church eternal in the timeless words of expectancy, “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”
